Tastings, Events & Tours

We run group tastings 3–4 times a month. Every tasting includes a tasty cheeseboard and expert tips from our WSET-trained staff, wine makers or brand ambassadors, making it fun and informative.

Our bespoke private tastings offer a relaxed and enjoyable evening of exceptional wine and cheese — perfect for gatherings with friends, family, or special occasions. Hosted in our shop, these sessions combine fun and education in an intimate setting.

We can comfortably accommodate up to 12 people around our largest table. For larger groups, please call us on 01277 500036 or complete the enquiry form to discuss available options.

International Cab: A Celebration of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cab Blends - £55pp

An Invitation to the Cabernet & Blend Showcase

Join us for an exclusive, highly curated wine tasting journey as we explore the world’s premier expressions of Cabernet Sauvignon and its classic Bordeaux blends. Across five exceptional bottles, we will map the incredible versatility of this legendary grape, examining how different soils, climates, and winemaking philosophies shape its character. From traditional European strongholds to dynamic New World terroirs, this tasting offers a rare opportunity to compare diverse global styles side-by-side in a structured, palate-opening progression.

The Flight: From Elegant Old World to Plush Napa

Our journey begins in the cool, maritime climates of France and New Zealand, where the focus rests on elegance, high natural acidity, and bright red and black fruits. We start with the classic graphite and cassis notes of La Dame d'Angludet 2021 (Margaux), followed by the perfumed, silky layers of Te Mata "Awatea" 2022 (Hawke's Bay). Moving into deeper structural density, we cross into Italy to experience the sun-drenched, herbal complexity of the coastal Terra di Monteverro 2021 (Tuscany). To conclude the flight, we unleashed the full-bodied powerhouses of the New World: the brooding, dark-fruited, and structured Boekenhoutskloof 2021 (Stellenbosch) and the opulent, velvety, and luxurious Freemark Abbey 2021 (Napa Valley).

Grenache / Garnacha Day Celebration - £40pp

Grenache / Garnacha Day Celebration - £40pp

Grenache (known as Garnacha in Spain) is a chameleon grape whose white, gris and red forms each offer vivid, approachable wines that are often underestimated and misunderstood; the red Grenache grape produces plush, juicy wines with bright red fruit, gentle spice and a warmth that gives a generous mouthfeel yet can show surprising finesse and age-worthiness when handled with care. It’s also used in the production of many a Provence rosé too. Garnacha Blanca yields rich, textured whites with stone-fruit and honeyed notes that balance acidity and weight beautifully, and Graenache / Garnacha Gris offers aromatic, textured wines with delicate floral and pear notes perfect for both vibrant drinking and food pairing.

The grape’s reputation has suffered from overcropping and mass-market simplification, which masks its true potential for terroir expression and complexity, but planted and vinified thoughtfully it rewards with wines of charm, versatility and value that deserve far more respect than they commonly receive.

The evening will kick off at 7.30pm and will be hosted by Anthony Byrne.

Along with these amazing wines, we will be serving a selection of artisan cheeses from our deli.

Horizontal Chardonnay Tasting - £40pp

Are you an ABC (Anything But Chardonnay) kinda person? Let us challenge you with a horizontal Chardonnay tasting evening at Liquorice Wine & Deli.

Often described as a blank canvass, the Chardonnay grape can be moulded into many forms by the winemakers of the world. Of course some characteristics are driven by terroir but the winemaker’s skill can make chardonnay clean and crisp or big and buttery or smouldering and smoky. Chardonnay is grown wherever vineyards thrive so basically in every wine region of the world. On this occasion, we’ll take you on a journey to discover why the ABC of Anything But Chardonnay may just become the ABC of Always Buy Chardonnay!

The evening will kick off at 7.30pm and will be hosted by Anthony Byrne.

Along with these amazing wines, we will be serving a selection of artisan cheeses from our deli.

The Wines of Puglia - £40pp

Italy has more native grape varieties than any other country with some experts calculating there to be up to 2,000 genetic and wild varieties, including rare local vines. You may be familiar with Primitivo from Puglia / Apulia but there is so much more to this sun-drenched, Southern Italian region.

Let the Summer vibes continue and join us for a tour around the wines of A Mano, lovingly made in this beautiful part of Italy.

The continued success of A Mano (By hand / Handmade in English) is at least partly attributable to the knowledge that owners Mark and Elvezia have gleaned from over 18 vintages in Puglia, where they have access to Salento’s best grapes.

The quality of the fruit shines through in the A Mano wines. The A Mano Bianco is made from 100% Fiano and displays aromas of ripe pear and orange blossom. The Rosato, made from 100% Primitivo, is fermented at low temperatures to retain the delicate perfume of the variety. The Negroamaro is fermented at low temperatures and is unoaked, preserving the purity of the old-vine fruit. The Falanghina comes from vineyards at 400 metres elevation in northern Puglia where limestone soils and the elevation give a wonderful freshness and mineral character to the wine. Susumaniello is a rare and ancient Puglian red variety. The wine is deep, inky purple and full-bodied.

Along with these amazing wines, we will be serving a selection of artisan cheeses from our deli.

Greek Wine Tasting - £40pp

Greek Wine Tasting - £40pp

Greece was once one of the foremost producers of wine in the ancient world. However, in contrast to the country’s important wine heritage, modern Greek wines have only recently reached the rest of the world.

These days, Greece offers outstanding wines made from indigenous varieties & this tasting will be a great way to expand your palate. From crisp, bush vine Assyrtiko to old vine Vidiano from Crete, we’ll then sample a complex skin contact Moschiofilero before moving to a soft yet spicy Agiorgitiko and finishing with a savoury, earthy Xinomavro. We may not be able to pronounce them, but we definitely enjoy drinking them!

The line up:

Assyrtiko - Muses Estate, Valley of the Muses, Central Greece

Vidiano - Idaia Winery, Dafnes, Heraklion

Moschofilero - Gaia Wines, Peloponnese (skin contact)

Xinomavro - Navitas Winery, Terre de Zeus, Mt Olympus

Agiorgitiko - Gaia Wines, Nemea

Along with these amazing wines, we will be serving a selection of artisan cheeses from our deli.

Portuguese Wine Tasting - £40pp

Portuguese Wine Tasting - £40pp

Hosted by Rui Santil of Liberty Wines

Portugal has a great tradition of winemaking with a wealth of characterful (if sometimes unpronounceable) indigenous grape varieties as well as a wonderfully varied climate.

Like its neighbour Spain, Portugal has been undergoing something of a quiet revolution over the last couple of decades. A reluctance to follow trends & plant international grapes is now paying dividends & the new breed of wines are more than able to compete on the world stage.

The unique flavours that are the hallmark of Portugal's indigenous grape varieties have become somewhat of a ‘trump card’ & we are looking forward to welcoming Rui Santil, Portuguese Estates Brand Ambassador of Liberty Wines to show a selection of his personal standouts.

From deliciously crisp, summery whites to rich robust reds there will be a lovely variety on offer & as always, the wines will be accompanied by a selection of artisan cheeses from our deli.

The line up:

Quinta da Romeyra, Espumante Bruto

Casa Ferreirinha, `Vinha Grande` Douro Rosé

Quinta de Azevedo, `Torre` Grande Escolha Branco

Herdade do Peso, `Trinca Bolotas` Alentejo Tinto

Casa Ferreirinha, `Castas Escondidas` Douro Tinto

Ferreira, `Dona Antónia` 10-Year-Old White Port

A Little About Rui Santil:

Originally from coastal Portugal, Rui Santil brings over 10 years of experience in the UK wine industry. A WSET Diploma holder, International Wine Challenge judge, and Portuguese Estates Brand Ambassador at Liberty Wines, he specialises in, and has a true passion for premium Portuguese wines. With Rui’s expertise, discover the unique grape varieties, terroirs, and traditions that make Portugal one of the world’s most exciting wine regions.

Limited numbers of tables are available to book online.

As at 04/08 this event is now fully booked.
