Greece was once one of the foremost producers of wine in the ancient world. However, in contrast to the country’s important wine heritage, modern Greek wines have only recently reached the rest of the world.
These days, Greece offers outstanding wines made from indigenous varieties & this tasting will be a great way to expand your palate. From crisp, bush vine Assyrtiko to old vine Vidiano from Crete, we’ll then sample a complex skin contact Moschiofilero before moving to a soft yet spicy Agiorgitiko and finishing with a savoury, earthy Xinomavro. We may not be able to pronounce them, but we definitely enjoy drinking them!
The line up:
Assyrtiko - Muses Estate, Valley of the Muses, Central Greece
Vidiano - Idaia Winery, Dafnes, Heraklion
Moschofilero - Gaia Wines, Peloponnese (skin contact)
Xinomavro - Navitas Winery, Terre de Zeus, Mt Olympus
Agiorgitiko - Gaia Wines, Nemea
Along with these amazing wines, we will be serving a selection of artisan cheeses from our deli.
