Pouring the East
Join us for an evening exploring Chinese wines — a chance to taste vibrant new labels and age-worthy classics from regions both familiar and surprising. From crisp, mineral-driven whites to savoury reds made from native and international varieties, this tasting showcases the diversity and innovation shaping China’s wine scene.
Guests will sample a curated flight with tasting notes and food pairings from our deli, while our host Jon Cason shares insight into traditional and modern viticultural techniques. We’ll also touch on a fascinating local practice: in some northern Chinese vineyards, growers bury the vines in winter to protect them from harsh frosts. This labour-intensive method, known as over-wintering, involves covering trunks and canes with soil and insulating materials until spring — a testament to the resilience and craftsmanship behind these wines.
Whether you’re curious about new terroirs or looking to expand your cellar, join us for a warm, convivial evening of discovery and deliciousness.
