The years bottling of Quinta Do Vesuvio vintage port 2017 marks the 30th anniversary of the Symington family’s acquisition of this historic property.
In the three decades under Symington family ownership, substantial investments have been made in the vineyards and Quinta do Vesuvio has built a global reputation as a single-estate producer of fine vintage ports and, more recently, fine Douro red wines.
This port is dark purple with purple rim and the fruit character is black fruit and yet just as pure and still with fine bergamot from the Touriga. Sweet baking spice on the palate leading in to highly textured tannins with a touch of spice. Dense and packed with a long finish that is sweet and utterly pure of fruit.
Owned by the well-known Symington family, Quinta do Vesuvio is the most spectacular Quinta in the Douro valley of Portugal. Located in the wild and serenely beautiful eastern reaches of the Upper Douro valley, 120 kilometres east of Oporto and 45 kilometres from the Spanish border, Quinta do Vesuvio stands alone both in terms of remoteness and sheer grandeur. These are dark, brooding Ports, with deep purple and black fruit flavours, coupled with heady spice notes and good tannin.
